Catherine (right) and my nose (left)
Catherine and I were roommates during my third year of graduate school. She made sure that my clothes matched and I wasn't too wrinkly before leaving for school in the morning. She thought I was a little strange and by now she thinks I am really strange but we still love eachother. Yesterday was like old times. Our Saturday morning began with breakfast at Mother's. We ordered the same thing and laughed a lot and I think server Seth had a crush on her. It was a good start to the day as our meal was packed full of nutrients, I wore a skirt and looked like I should be going somewhere. We did follow through with our grand plans and instead ended up on the big orange couch wasting a perfectly good [though cloudy] saturday away together like we would normally do alone. It was a fun movie marathon type of day. We ate plenty of junk food and spent the majority of the hours horizontal. She had never seen the village so we watched that then rented coach carter a feel good, just my type sort of movie. Every couple of hours we would check our email and myspace and browse other random things. We went for a short walk to get the blood circulating a bit and she wouldn't let me collect the dead crow to give to vector control.
Nearing the end of the day we thought a little social interaction might do us some good so we invited ourselves to Andrew's to watch Napoleon Dynamite. Of the seven of us there I was the only one who hadn't seen it which was really annoying because they would laugh way too early at the anticipation of what was to come. I hated the shooting the cow scene and the poor chicken scenes and I didn't understand why the llama always had to be tied up. Every time Catherine would pat me on the shoulder and say, it's okay. They watched the cow scene twice because they love it so much.
When everyone but me, Catherine and Eric went outside to smoke I made sure the coast was clear and ran over to the coffee table and grabbed the huge Folger's coffee can to see what was inside because I really had to know. It was change. Catherine scolded me for being so nosy and I said, "What it's just me." As if I am privledged to know all things. On the walk home we stopped to peek in all the open windows with lights on. What? It's just me...
