I always say that I cannot wait to grow up and have my own place. I do not know where this so-called "want" comes from. There is something to be said for being able to come home from work and saying "do you want to go out to dinner?" and you don't have to decide on a time or if someone should pick someone else up or if you should just meet. You just grab the keys and go.
And I especially love those moments when you come home early to put your clothes away but instead you sit on the floor in the hallway with your roommate and laugh at the cat and the dancing and get advice on clothes and work or just plain talk shit.
And when you throw parties you always have someone there waiting with you wondering if anyone is going to show up because your other friends are always so late.
And when you wake up hungover in the morning you can go to breakfast right away.
And when you need advice on what to wear you have someone to ask and you'll take at least half of it.
And when you run out of ketchup or need a special shade of thread it is okay to use hers.
And sometimes you'll get an email from her that will make your whole day or a picture text message that will make you laugh.
And when the cat does something hilarious like jump backward 4 feet when you open the dvd player or sprint under the bed leaving a trail of shredded newspaper she is there to laugh with you and if she's not she will be the only to fully appreciate the story later.
Roommates are great and I've just had a long string of fantastic ones.
