When I walked out of MH this evening the clouds were beautiful in a way that they are never beautiful in S. California. Within 7 minutes I saw a great flash in the sky and then another and then another... the thunder began and then came the rain. Yes, it is raining in September. In southern california. A thunder storm! A full on thunderstorm. I just still cannot believe. When I finished setting the last trap and got out of my car at Bert's, it did not smell like fresh cut grass like it was supposed to... instead it smelled of oil on the streets. When I walked inside to quickly pick up some couscous to replace what I ate of Lori Jean's. It was not the quick trip I had hoped for. School has begun and the place was packed with undergrads.
It is orientation week and the buzz is back... After the first couple of weeks of summer we begin to take for granted the silence around campus. Now the little bastards are back and louder and more numerous than ever. I am not ready for the summer to end. Next teaching begins... not that it ever really ended.
It seems that even though I am trying not to drive too much I am driving more than I usually do. I hate that. How is my life still so normal after so many people lost theirs?
It is good to have friends that are very different from you. If I did not have Marin I certainly would not be going to the Ellen Degeneres show tomorrow and I certainly would not have gone to that water park where I had to walk around in my swimming suit all day as if I was not in public half-naked. If I did not have Amanda I would have never seen Spirit... let alone in the movie theater. And if there was no Lori Jean, I would not be half-watching a merry muppet christmas right this moment.
Did I mention that there is a thunderstorm? Right now?

I love thunderstorms. I love them best if i'm indoors. But I don't like rain that much and we have plenty of rain here. It has been sunny for the past 2 days. Sunny in Spetember in Holland!? When are you coming to experince it live? Let's schedule!
but with rio I do things I would normally do... and I hope to come next summer!
