dear students,

Now that this is all over, I wish that I would have or could have said:

Thank you for letting me make mistakes and helping me learn from them. Thank you for all of the laughs even though I should not have always been laughing and you should have been putting your efforts into learning some science. Thank you for your insightful comments, great questions, for sharing your concerns and being comfortable challenging topics and discussions. Thank you for not being afraid to ask and for being comfortable learning something new for the first time and for sharing with me how much you've learned and how you apply this knowledge to your daily life.

I am sorry I did not alway succeed in providing the best learning environment for all of you. I wish I could have made you more comfortable and I wish I could have made you see just how much more satisfying it is to follow directions. I am sorry I did not provide enough structure and succeed at improving your behaviors so that they would match your great personalities.

I wish I also would have taught you...

When writing emails to your teachers and professors always start with a salutation and address them by name. Start your sentences with capital letters and include punctuation. Be respectful, even if you are not happy and close with a thank you and THEN YOUR NAME!

Hot is only spelled with one T. In all contexts.

Stop being mean to your friends. And to everyone else.

Admit when you made a mistake.

Evolution is not "fake". Most got on board with this but there are still a few I could shake...

It does not matter with whom you associate, you are all more alike than you think.

Do not judge people on their sexuality, race, religion or status.

Stop spending two hundred dollars on t-shirts.

Understand that not everyone is as privileged as are you and do not take your lifestyle for granted.

And a hell of a lot more science. Because it OWNS!
