cesar chavez

Funny that the hours of the campus gym greatly exceed the hours of the campus library. I sat at an empty table, one of many, with my laptop, papers sprawled about, working quickly to take advantage of the few hours the library would remain open for the day.

There were probably only five people on the entire floor. Some on the computers and other studying for the MCAT.

He walked by and said hello. On his way back he stopped and asked if I studied Biology. He didn't even whisper. I whispered.

Yes.

Ph.D.?

Yep.

Why would you do that? I don't understand. Why don't you go to medical school? You can actually make money. Why would you just study biology?

Well, I am not interested in becoming a doctor. I like Biology regardless of my income. Where would we be if everyone wanted to be a doctor?

But you can make so much money! Look at you! I am sure you are smart. You can pass the MCAT.

But I don't want to. Are you in medical school?

No, chemical engineering. Are you wondering why I'm not in medical school?

Kind of.

I don't have a green card. Have a good day!
