lab rabbit

We'll call him Knut after the late Schmidt-Nielsen.

He is the newest addition to the Bradley and do not worry, we will not put shampoo in his eyes or give him cancer or decapitate him. He's just coming to visit once a month to feed the Rhodnius. Today was the first feeding and although I am sure he was not comfortable, he was a good sport. And then we cuddled. I love Knut.

update: Rhodnius are blood-feeding insects and they look like this.

The rabbit is Knut and he gets restrained while the insects suck his blood to repletion.

mommy, do you want me to get chagra's disease?

it is pronounced "newt". i am thinking that someday lily may have a rabbit for a companion.

i would like to volunteer to donate my blood to the rhodnius. will the university pay for my flight? why should the rabbit suffer?
