Although it is not 'Sarah's Key' heart-wrenching sad, it is definitely not a feel-gooder. I have these mixed feelings running through me. I liked the book. You could say I even almost loved the book. Yet it leaves me unsatisfied and frustrated in the end. Like a French movie could. Like it is just real people, doing what real people do. Getting by and being unapologetic for his or her actions. The ending is not bad, I just was not ready to leave their lives until something fantastic happened.
Even Sarah's Key delivered that "silver-platter" ending...
