When I say work, they work. When I say play this game, they play. When I say no talking, they do not talk. When I say I need to see you after class, they understand and then they take out the recycling and put up the chairs. When I sit down to help someone I do not worry about what is going on behind me. When I am talking, I am not disciplining. When they leave there is no graffiti on the tables and no trash on the floor. I am enjoying these kids. There are only 20 of them and it is difficult for them (and me) to be there for 3.5 hours but we get through it and most of the time, time seems to go by relatively quickly and painlessly. There are still complainers and they are not all in love with the idea of being there... they are still kids. It is just what I imagined. The mix one might expect in a normal classroom. My summer has been truncated but not in a terrible way.
